This course has as its primary focus the relationship God used in the days of Old
Testament History to bring man back into obedience. God is and was and always will be
full of faith. He used His faith as the instrument of the creative process through which man
came into existence. Faith is the spiritual life-line through which man receives the
goodness of God. Without faith, man in his fallen state, has no hope of a return, of
receiving the promises or the covenants of God. We will examine some individuals used by
God, as leaders in faith, to bring restoration of the people into Canaan. God wanted His
people to return to the spiritual garden relationship, which comes about by obedience and
faith. We will study the roles, characteristics, and examples of faith found in some
individuals living before 400 B.C. These examples will contribute to our understanding of
faith. God provided to every man, the measure of faith as shown through the life, suffering,
death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith is possible in this age of grace. It is
for those who will receive it. For us, much understanding of faith may come by examining
the substance of it, as revealed through those lived in ancient times. Many of them
demonstrated great faith.
