The Pentateuch, what it, why should we read it? The Pentateuch is the first five books of the Bible. The books are often referred to as the Books of Moses, the Torah, and the Law of Moses. Unfortunately, these books carry a detail of legal data. However, the laws deal with firstly, how we interact with God and secondly how to interact with other humans. These books also lay the foundation for primary Biblical understanding such as creation and the development of the Israelite nation. That said what the Bible would be like without the books of the Pentateuch! It would be like a house without a foundation or a body without a head. Without the first five books of the Hebrew Bible, we would have no knowledge of what most scholars consider to be the pivotal event in Israel's history—the exodus out of Egypt. We would lack a historical record of the patriarchal history, of the creation, fall, and flood, or of the covenant at Sinai.
