If we are to comprehend the Bible clearly, we must know what the text meant when it was spoken to its hearers in the language that it was spoken. If we fail to maintain the thought that Yeshua was a Jew and raised within the Jewish culture, we will miss a great number of truths that will have practical application needed to live a life of Biblical conformity. This in no way implies “Legalism.” However, we must maintain that there is a Biblical standard set forth for Christians in both the Old and New Testaments. When we have discovered the true meaning of any text, there must be pragmatic application. The joy of revelation always causes us to want to tell others. This was how the Gospel spread so fast. When the truth was learned about Messiah, no one could keep silent. The “Good News” must be told. This is the great commission given by Christ. We must see Yeshua through His cultural background and hear Him in His native tongue to comprehend fully all that He said and intended.
